Internal plastering

With over 25 years of experience in the plastering trade, I provide internal plastering for everything from small repairs and individual ceilings to complete rooms and renovation projects.

Whether you're dealing with damaged or uneven plaster, renovating a property or simply want a smooth new finish ready for decorating, I can assess the existing surfaces and recommend the most appropriate way to prepare and plaster them.

Skimming & Replastering

Skimming can transform tired, uneven or previously repaired walls and ceilings, providing a smooth, consistent surface ready for decoration.

Good results depend on the preparation underneath. Existing plaster is checked before work begins, with loose areas, cracks and other defects dealt with as required. Depending on the condition of the surface, this may involve preparation and skimming or more extensive removal and replastering.

Ceiling Plastering

Old, cracked and uneven ceilings can often be repaired and skimmed without needing complete replacement. I also plaster over suitable existing textured finishes where their condition allows.

Where a ceiling is badly damaged or unsuitable for direct plastering, overboarding with new plasterboard and skimming can provide a secure, level finish while avoiding unnecessary removal of the entire existing ceiling.

Plaster Repairs & Patching

Not every plastering job needs a whole room replastered.

I undertake smaller repairs and patching to damaged walls and ceilings, including areas affected by alterations, removed fittings, electrical or plumbing work and sections of loose or failed plaster.

The repair is prepared and finished to blend with the surrounding surface as closely as practical, leaving it ready for decoration once fully dry.

Older & Problem Walls

Simply skimming over a wall isn't always the right solution. Damp, salt contamination, loose backgrounds or unsuitable previous materials can cause a new plaster finish to fail if the underlying problem isn't considered first.

For older and solid-wall properties, I can also provide lime and breathable plaster systems where these are more appropriate than conventional gypsum plaster.

Preparation & a Professional Finish

A good plastered finish starts before the plaster goes on the wall.

Surfaces are properly prepared for the chosen system, and floors and surrounding areas are protected before work begins. I aim to leave customers with a smooth, professional finish ready for decoration and the work area clean and tidy when the job is complete.
